Ask the Experts - Bathroom & Kitchen Installation FAQs

4th July 2022

Whether you would like a simple replacement of products or a full dream kitchen or bathroom renovation, it’s important that you choose a reliable installer who you can trust in your home.

We only recommend the most qualified and highly skilled technicians to install any Parkers Bathroom or Kitchen. Our recommended installation teams are local to Brighton, Hove and the surrounding areas. All with a wealth of experience working in the property sector to include full renovations and bathroom & kitchen installations, covering all trades within both domestic and commercial settings.

We spoke with one or our trusted installers Sam from Bishops of Brighton to answer some of the most frequently asked questions we receive from clients prior to their kitchen or bathroom installation:

  • How long does the average kitchen or bathroom installation take?

We expect a standard installation to be completed within 10 days if it's straight forward. Should there be any major changes to the layout or electrics, it may take longer, but we would be fully transparent with our timescales prior to starting work to ensure minimum disruption to your day-to-day life.

  • Do you remove all waste at the end of the job?

We clear all rubbish as standard at the end of each job. Commercial waste disposal is included in the total price.

  • What time do you start and finish?

Our fitters work from 8am - 5pm Monday-Friday. They will not leave half-way through a job to go to another one. They will say on-site until the work is complete.

  • Is it possible to make changes to the job mid-way through?

Yes, we often find our clients have ideas or changes they wish to make once the work has commenced. Reasonable alterations can be made, but these may affect timescales and final costings of any project. Again, we will be upfront with these to ensure there are no surprises and alternative arrangements for accommodation can be made if necessary.

Are you qualified to work within Conservation Area or Listed Building guidelines?

Yes, our project manager has a full understanding of building regulations and guidelines, working closely with Brighton & Hove City Council regarding planning applications and permissions particularly relating to the city’s older properties.

  • How long will I be without heating/bathroom facilities/running water during an installation?

We always try to ensure that we leave running water and toilet facilities operational but there may be disruption only at the time of fitting a new pan. Any disruption is temporary, but we will always give you notice so you can make alternative arrangements if necessary.

  • Will there be a mess?

We keep our working area as tidy as possible and minimise mess. We will clean the work area at the end of each day to ensure dust particles do not travel throughout the property and we will ensure the space is left immaculate at the end of the job.

  • Are your installers qualified and insured?

Yes, our workers are fully qualified and insured with our fully comprehensive public liabilities insurance.

  • Are you able to reroute plumbing work to relocate a kitchen or bathroom to a different room in the house?

Yes, our installation team are fully qualified in all elements of plumbing and carpentry and no job is too big or small. We can also form and build stud walls to accommodate a change in layout.
